Welcome to PneumoWork

Interstitial lung disease (ILD), also known as diffuse parenchymal lung diseases (DPLD) includes a wide spectrum of diseases, many uncommon and many of unknown etiology. As clinical symptoms, histologic and radiologic patterns may vary and show considerable overlap, the final diagnosis often requires a multidisciplinary approach by a team of experts. Drugs and occupational exposure may cause ILD. Pneumoconiosis, berylliosis, extrinsic allergic alveolitis, toxic bronchiolitis and bronchiolitis obliterans are examples of ILD which may occur in the occupational setting. However, as knowledge about exposure and its relation with interstitial lung disease is limited, work-related ILD is not considered or recognized in many cases, like in sarcoidosis.

Furthermore, information on work-related ILD is widely dispersed across the literature and internet.

PneumoWork helps health care and occupational professionals to recognize and identify work-related ILD and to assess health risks of exposure to toxic agents.

PneumoWork is developed by Center for Interstitial Lung Diseases (c.I.L.), Dept of Pulmonology, St Antonius Hospital, Nieuwegein, The Netherlands in collaboration with Netherlands Expertise Centre for Occupational Respiratory Disorders.
